Prof. Emeje is a distinguished Professor of Drug Delivery and Nanomedicine with expertise spanning pharmacy, molecular biology, and nanoscience. Holding degrees from ABU Zaria and the University of Nigeria, where he received notable awards, he completed postdoctoral training in India and holds over 150 publications, patents, and 2,500 citations. His career
includes roles as an examiner, adjunct lecturer, and postgraduate supervisor across Nigerian and international institutions.
With 16+ years in academia, Prof. Emeje has influenced curriculum development, research, and administrative improvements at several institutions. As Head of Department at NIPRD, he introduced innovations, secured funding, and enhanced departmental functions. His leadership extended to the Federal Ministry of Science & Technology Thrift Society, managing 1,390 members and spearheading vocational training initiatives. He also led the Nigeria Association of Pharmacists in Academia, advancing industry-academia partnerships.
Prof. Emeje’s research focuses on using nanotechnology to enhance drug bioavailability and applying herbal medicines in public health. He led a $11.6M project to develop indigenous drugs, founded Nigeria’s first nanomedicine center, and licensed Nigeria’s first phytomedicine. His work on nanotechnology for drug delivery won a WHO award, and he has been recognized globally, including by WHO and the African Academy of Science. He was named the Vice-Chancellor of European
University of Nigeria (EUN) in July 2022. Currently, he serves as Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria’s Natural Medicine Development Agency (NNMDA), focusing on quality management systems and public health innovation.
